With a huge disappointment, last week Microsoft released their new line of mobile phones; ‘Kin One’ & ‘Kin Two’. According to Micrsoft this phone is designed for users who are heavily into social networking and instant messaging.
Wow!
Are you sure?
Not really. First thing, I don’t like that the phone has no app service. That means you can’t add any new app, you have to be happy with the native phone services. OK, that’s great! I thought socially savvy users are keen about tasting latest apps. Microsoft is totally ignoring the future of mobile app market when every other phone manufactures are jumping into designing phones and getting the slice of the booming market.
Yeah! Yeah!! Yeah!!!
Another wrong decision, Microsoft. Great!
Anyway, I just watched the promotional video of ‘Kin’ on Daily Telegraph and feeling disgusted. This ad is clearly targeting the teenagers and showing how teenagers can sexting using Kin mobile.
The video includes a downright creepy sequence in which a young man is shown putting a Kin under his shirt and apparently snapping a picture of one of his naked breasts. The breast is then shown on the phone’s screen, just before the guy apparently sends it to someone. Next we see the face of a young woman, seemingly the recipient, with an amused expression on her face.
Shame on you Microsoft!
Microsoft is aiming its Kin devices at young teenagers, the age demographic for which ’sexting’ is a particular problem. One in four people aged between 13 and 18 have admitted to sending explicit videos and photos to other youngsters, according to research from the University of Plymouth.
I had the feeling that Kin will be a total disaster, I posted my comment on Mashable that Not interested in Kin. Microsoft is still in dark age, Apple & Google is far ahead from Microsoft just minutes before it was released. And Microsoft proved me right.
Let’s see what else they can do to sell the crappy phone.
