EA maintains chart lead with 2010 FIFA World Cup

EA has enjoyed a strong week thanks to the all-formats chart-topping success of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and a top-five debut for Skate 3.

The publisher's licensed football game experienced a 42 per cent decline in sales from last week, but still sold enough copies to lead the all-formats chart for a third week in succession.

Meanwhile, new skating game Skate 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 placed in fifth.

Overall, EA was the best-represented publisher in the top ten, with its Battlefield: Bad Company 2 coming in at sixth place.

The DICE-developed shooter was credited as a key factor behind the company's strong fourth quarter earnings in its latest fiscal report, released last week.

Other new entries in this week's all-formats chart included Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake, which sold only 1,000 copies fewer than 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa to finish second.

Capcom's Lost Planet 2 finished in third in its debut week.
