Wordpress plugin: ‘recommended for using it or not’?

I was searching for some plugins in the Wordpress.org plugin repository today. When I was browsing through plugins in the stats/tracking category, I came across this strange plugin called ‘wopsta – Wordpress Visitor Statistics’. As you can see in the screenshot above, the plugin developer has stated that ‘This plugin is currently under development and far away from being stable’ and I can understand upto this. But what shocked me is the next line: ‘Using it is not recommended’.

Now a question arises here that is there nobody to check and verify before plugins are included in the Wordpress plugins repository? How can the famous Wordpress.org website feature such a plugin whose developers are themselves declaring that using it is not recommended? This is not only ridiculous negligence by the Wordpress authorities but they are also risking countless wordpress self-hosted blog admins to damage their blogs.

Imagine what would happen if some blog admin is in a hurry and fails to notice that sentence which is not even in a bold or emphasized format. I am not of the firm opinion that using this plugin will damage a blog, but risks are there off course when developers aren’t recommending the use of their own plugin. I am so confused! This developer should be banned from the site and there should also be proper enquiry into the matter as to who checked and passed this plugin to appear in the directory.

Wordpress is a very very famous and widely accepted blogging platform, there are millions of blogs that run on the wordpress engine; authorities should be more watchful in their daily duties and apart from loving wordpress, they must also love the countless wordpress users. Such unreliable plugins and wreckless developers should not find a place in the wordpress.org site at all.
